ANDRÉ MONTEIRO AND ANTÓNIO VELOSO TEAM UP IN A GINETTA FOR VILA REAL

André Monteiro and António Veloso are set to team up this weekend on the streets of Vila Real, where the third round of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, a sister series of the Iberian Supercars Endurance, will take place. The Portuguese duo will be behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40.

The weekend of the transmontano event is approaching, and the enthusiasm to participate in the most important circuit event in Portugal on a stage of great visibility does not leave drivers and teams indifferent.

André Monteiro and António Veloso could not resist the allure of racing a TC class car through the streets of Vila Real, joining forces at the helm of a Ginetta G40-run by Veloso Motorsport.

The 17-year-old driver made his debut in motorsport at the age of thirteen in Rallycross. Without any karting experience, he was crowned Champion of the Campeonato de Portugal Legends in his first circuit racing season in 2022, becoming the youngest ever to achieve such a feat.

On the other hand, António Veloso began his adventure in motorsport in 2022 in the Portuguese Hill Climb Championship. He is not new to the series as he took part in last’s Vila Real round of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade (and non-championship event of Supercars Endurance), driving an Abarth 500.

The 40-year-old driver emphasizes that "the main objective is to have fun with a car that seems to be very agile on a very challenging circuit. Of course, we will work to do the best possible and reach the maximum potential of the Ginetta. Moreover, it is always a pleasure to compete in Vila Real. It has a fascinating audience that creates a very special atmosphere. I think it is very important to bring the races to the people, and being able to do it with the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade is very special”.

André Monteiro, who also raced in Vila Real in 2022, admits that "it's fantastic to be able to race in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and especially on such a legendary circuit like Vila Real! I know the track, but the car is new, with right-hand drive, but I don't think that will be a problem. We know that the competition is very strong, but it is also a platform to show my worth. We will work to be competitive and give our best”.

The 52nd Circuito Internacional de Vila Real marks the third round of the prestigious Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and is set to take place next weekend.
