Finland’s Elias Niskanen will contest his Iberian Supercars debut season together with Lema Racing this year, driving a Mercedes-AMG GT4 entered in the GT4 PRO class.
“After winning silver medal in the 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe series I have spent 500 days without being behind the steering wheel of a GT car. Now as finally worldwide pandemic is passing away, I'm thrilled and very motivated to be back in racing again,” said 20-year-old Elias Niskanen. “In my previous seasons I've been competing with karting, Formula Renault and 620bph Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO cars. This is my first-ever experience with GT4-car and therefore it's a new challenge for me.”
Jaka Marinsek, Team Manager of LEMA Racing, added: “We are looking forward to participate in the Iberian Supercars series this year. We are also taking part this year in the TCR Europe and Italy, and Iberian Supercars is a great addition to our TCR and GT4 programmes. I am convinced that with Elias, and another driver who will be announced later on, we can be competitive from the start and be able to fight for the overall podium positions in our Mercedes AMG GT4.”
The Slovenia-based team will announce their second driver later this week. The Iberian Supercars kicks off this coming weekend at Jarama, Spain.
