BMW M2 Cup Iberia grows in size and quality

The BMW M2 Cup Iberia held its second round of the season in Valencia, an event marked by a strengthened grid and the debut of Promotion Motorsport, who fielded a BMW M2 Racing for Daniel Casas — and won one of the races.

Saturday began with a show of strength from the young Spaniard, who quickly adapted to the BMW M2 Racing and secured two consecutive pole positions, setting a pace that immediately highlighted the potential of the new team.

Behind him, an intense battle unfolded between the young drivers of the FPAK Junior Team and the LOB Motorsport driver, shaping both qualifying sessions of the BMW M2 Cup Iberia. In the first session, Diego Sirgado was the closest challenger, securing second place among the BMW M2 Racing entries, with Francisca Roby Queiroz in third and Gonçalo Moura in fourth — all separated by tiny margins.

In the second qualifying session, the balance remained, with Casas once again placing his BMW at the top of the timesheets, this time followed by Francisca Roby Queiroz, who set the second‑fastest time, while Nathan Corbet secured third ahead of Bernardo Passanha.

Daniel Casas confirmed the pace shown in qualifying and delivered a commanding performance in the first race, controlling every phase of the contest and claiming a highly deserved victory on his BMW M2 Cup Iberia debut. Close behind, Gonçalo Moura and Bernardo Passanha produced a solid race to finish second, while Kika Queiroz completed the podium after another consistent showing. Diego Sirgado and Nathan Corbet crossed the line just behind, rounding out the M2 group in a race filled with battles.

The second fifty‑minute race once again demonstrated the absolute competitiveness of the category, with the entire field covered by just three and a half seconds. Gonçalo Moura and Bernardo Passanha, in the FPAK Junior Team BMW M2 Racing, showed strong pace from the start and secured a well‑executed victory. Diego Sirgado and Nathan Corbet finished close behind after overtaking Daniel Casas in the closing moments — the Spaniard’s performance affected by the ten‑second handicap applied due to his win the previous day, leaving him third at the flag. Francisca Roby Queiroz finished close to the podium after an emotional race.

In total, six thousand euros in prize money were distributed among the podium finishers — €1,800 for each race winner, €900 for second place and €300 for third.

Following the Valencia event, which attracted twenty thousand spectators and saw increased interest in the BMW M2 Cup Iberia, more cars are expected for the next round, taking place in Jerez from 6 to 8 November.
