Cunha and Rodrigues return with unchanged Veloso Motorsport line-up

Patrick Cunha and Jorge Rodrigues will continue to race Veloso Motorsport’s Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the Iberian Supercars Endurance this season.

The duo from Braga, who drives for the Portuguese outfit Veloso Motorsport, were already one of the great entertainers throughout the last season. They won the first race of the season held at the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real and were involved in the battle for the title of the GT4 Bronze division until the last race of the year.

Patrick Cunha is a well-known name in Portuguese motorsport, having won the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade in 2003, and finishing as the vice-champion in 2012 and 2013 in the Portuguese GT Championship. He has also participated in the 2013 FIA GT Series, finishing ninth in the Pro-Am Cup.

On the other hand, Jorge Rodrigues has had a remarkable career in touring cars, winning the 2012 European Trofeo Abarth championship and finishing as the vice-champion in Italy. In 2019, he drove a Maserati Grandturismo MC GT4 in the Italian GT Championship.

Patrick Cunha said, "returning to the Iberian Supercars Endurance makes perfect sense! It is the most important championship in the Iberian Peninsula, with fantastic cars. This year, the competition is even stronger, and we expect around ten cars capable of fighting for victory. Last year, we had a challenging season with some setbacks that prevented us from finishing some races, besides facing difficulties in finding the best settings for the Audi. This season, we are much better prepared and determined to fight for top positions and the title. We know that we will have very strong opponents, but we will give our best.”

Jorge Rodrigues added, "GT4 cars are well-suited to the reality of Portugal and Spain, as they provide a joyful driving experience and have accessible maintenance, allowing teams and drivers to participate in the Supercars Endurance. I have been racing these cars for several years now, and continuing in the most important circuit racing series of the Iberian Peninsula is the logical choice. The competition will be fierce this year, with even more high-level drivers and competitive cars, so we know that we will have a challenging task ahead. However, we will work hard to fight for victories and aim for the title at the end of the season.”

The Algarve Welcome Spring stages the opening round of this year’s Supercars Endurance on May 6 & 7 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
