Daniel Teixeira will return to Iberian-based Supercars Endurance series in 2026, remaining in the Touring Car category at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra N TCR run by JT59 Racing Team. The driver from Murça once again commits to a championship in which he has been a regular and highly competitive presence.

Teixeira has established himself as one of the standout protagonists of the series, first with SEAT/Cupra machinery and, since 2024, with Hyundai, continuing to be one of the benchmark drivers in the category.

The three-time Iberian Supercars and four-time Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade Touring Car Champion is working to ensure his continued presence in the championship, with the introduction of split grids playing a decisive role in his decision to continue.

The Portuguese driver and former air force pilot believes that “this measure is an extra motivation to remain in what I consider to be the best circuit racing championship on the Iberian Peninsula”, highlighting that the separation of GT4 and Touring Car + GTC races “allows us to offer twice the spectacle to the fans and significantly reduces the likelihood of Safety Car interventions, something that with more than forty cars on track would be almost inevitable”.

Teixeira also adds that this change will have a direct impact on sporting competitiveness by enabling clean qualifying laps, “something that has proven very difficult in the past. I only hope that this measure is implemented across the entire championship, including Vila Real”, expressing his wish for the solution to be applied throughout the season, including the iconic street circuit.

After securing both the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Iberian Supercars titles in recent seasons, the focus for 2026 is clear. “Having won both championships in the Touring Car category in recent years, the objective has to be to fight for both titles once again”, the driver states, while not ruling out expanding his ambitions further. “There is also the possibility of challenging for the Supercars España Touring Car title, something we have never done before, as we did not take part in the Jarama and Valencia rounds”, he explained, leaving the door open to an even broader program.

The 2026 Supercars Endurance season gets underway at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from 15 to 17 May, with the official pre-season test scheduled for 21 March at the Autódromo do Estoril.
