GT4 returns in force to Valencia with a stellar entry list

Supercars Endurance returns to action this weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo for the second round of Iberian Supercars season and the third of Campeonato de España de Supercars’ season, integrated into the Valencia Iberian Racing Weekend - an event that traditionally attracts thousands of spectators over three days of activity. The Valencian round features an impressive entry list, both in numbers and in quality, confirming the excellent momentum the championship is experiencing.

The first three rounds of the season - Algarve, Jarama and Vila Real - were marked by thrilling races, full of uncertainty right up to the closing moments of the 50‑minute contests. The competitiveness shown in the opening rounds has reinforced Supercars Endurance’s reputation as the benchmark circuit-racing competition in the Iberian Peninsula, with strong grids, top-level teams, international-calibre drivers and intense battles across all divisions.

The stage for another showdown will be the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, inaugurated in 1999 - a technical 4-kilometre layout with 14 corners of varying characteristics, demanding for both drivers and machinery. The high temperatures expected for the weekend will add an extra challenge, making tyre management a decisive factor in the outcome of the races.

GT4 Pro – Everything to play for

The GT4 Pro division presents an impressive tally of twelve entries, promising high-level racing.

In Portimão, the Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo2s were in the spotlight, with Francisco Mora and Rodrigo Almeida winning the first race and César Machado and Tomás Teixeira the second. They arrive in Valencia as natural reference points in the division, strengthened by their performances in Vila Real, where they again fought for the top positions. The Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal duo leads the Iberian Supercars standings, while Speedy Motorsport’s consistency keeps them in the fight for victories and at the top of the Campeonato de España de Supercars.

McLaren Barcelona – SMC Motorsport fields Rafael Rajani and Luís Aguiar, winners of a race in Jarama, as their leading duo, while Veloso Motorsport continues with Hendrik Still and Carlos Vieira in one of its Porsche Cayman CS RS GT4s - a duo that has already shown they can fight at the front, as proven by their victory in the second Vila Real race.

Among the main challengers to the duos who have already tasted victory is the Racar Motorsport pairing of Mathieu Martins and Anton Morsing, who led the first Jarama race until around two kilometres from the chequered flag, when a technical issue denied them the win. Their speed in Madrid confirms them as serious candidates for the top step of the podium.

The grid also features notable newcomers, including CV Performance x JP Motorsport, who field Gustav Berglund - making his absolute debut in the championship - and Simon Connor Primm, who arrives from the DTM for his first outing in Iberian competition.

McLaren Barcelona – SMC Motorsport also introduces changes, with Lluis Mas joined by a new team‑mate: Finland’s Alexander Dahlstrom, making his debut both in the championship and in car racing after a promising karting career. 

GT4 Pro-Bronze – Strengthened field

GT4 Pro‑Bronze brings six entries to Valencia, arriving with a hierarchy shaped by the high competitiveness of the opening rounds.

The Portimão winners - José Carlos Pires and Francisco Abreu of Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal in the first race, and Nuno Afonso and Alexandre Areia of Gianfranco Motorsport in the second - remain key reference points in the division, reinforced by strong results in Jarama, where they again collected important points.

Batina Racing, with Nuno Pires and Orlando Batina, continues to be one of the most consistent outfits of the season, having secured podiums in the Algarve and a victory on their first visit to Spain — a result they will aim to repeat in Valencia.

NM Racing Team fields Guillermo Aso and young rookie Mario Pinazo, who have already shown competitiveness and, racing at home, will be determined to shine in front of their crowd and challenge the Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo2s with their Mercedes AMG GT4.

Breakell Racing appears as a new entry, with Álvaro Fontes and Miguel Gaspar driving a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, after competing in the GTX division at Jarama with another Weissach product. The Portuguese-Spanish duo enters for an experimental outing, without scoring points, but will certainly aim to fight for podium positions.

Another new entry comes from Nokotech Racing by Speedy, with Lithuanian Andrius Zemaitis and Australian Lochlan Evennett - the latter competing in the GT4 European Series and making his Iberian debut in the opening round of the season.

With several teams capable of fighting for victories and new protagonists emerging, GT4 Pro-Bronze promises another weekend marked by balance and uncertainty right up to the final moments.

GT4 Bronze – Uncertainty reigns

GT4 Bronze features five entries and arrives in Valencia with an intense battle for the lead. Vasco Oliveira, who won in the Algarve and Vila Real, continues in Jarama with Manuel Gião at the wheel of the Racar Motorsport-run Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo - Gião having already partnered him in the northern Portugal event, where the duo won one of the races.

Miguel Nabais and André Nabais, winners of the second Algarve race, remain natural candidates to continue their strong results, reinforced by the competitiveness shown in Jarama and Vila Real.

NM Racing Team, with Ricardo Costa and Andrés Prieto, arrives in Valencia leading the Spanish championship thanks to two podiums and a victory in Jarama. The team is determined that its Mercedes-AMG GT4 duo will continue its strong form to defend both the Spanish and Portuguese titles - the latter won by the Portuguese driver.

Autoworks Motorsport, with Borja Hormigos and Héctor Hernández, also won in Jarama and will be one of the teams to watch in front of the Spanish crowd, aiming to exploit the competitiveness of the BMW M4 GT4.

Paulo Macedo and Luís Calheiros head to Valencia looking to leave behind the misfortunes of the first half of the season, hoping to return to strong results with the Veloso Motorsport Porsche Cayman RS CS.

With multiple winners across the opening rounds, GT4 Bronze arrives in Valencia with a grid where balance is the only certainty.

GT4 Am – another clash between the protagonists

GT4 Am, dedicated to drivers with less competitive experience, features five entries and remains one of the most unpredictable divisions of the season. The Portimão winners - Jaime Sanchis and Alex Wendt in the McLaren Artura GT4 of McLaren Barcelona – SMC Motorsport, and Rúben Vaquinhas and Mico Mineiro in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 of RV7 - meet again in Valencia for another duel.

Smörg and Javier Macias, in the Promotion Motorsport‑prepared BMW, have also stood on the top step of the podium and are in direct contention for the class crown, aiming to insert themselves once more into the fight for victory.

NGT Motorsport returns with Miguel Ferreira and Fernando Soares at the wheel of their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4, hoping to continue the progress shown in the Algarve.

Josep Parera and Aleix Nogué make their season debut, representing NM Racing Team in a Mercedes AMG GT4, adding further depth to a division that promises to be one of the highlights of the weekend.

As is clear, there are many reasons to follow the races this weekend. Tickets to watch live start at €30 and can be purchased on the circuit’s website, giving access to a wide range of paddock activities, including Monster Truck demonstrations, a car exhibition and live concerts.
