Daniel Teixeira claimed victory in both of the final races of the Supercars Endurance Touring Cars/GTC season but had to work hard to reach the top step of the podium at the Estoril Circuit.
Teixeira Wins in a Race with Multiple Leaders
The Supercars Endurance GTC and Touring Car race at the Estoril Circuit delivered all the ingredients expected from a decisive round, featuring intense battles from lights to flag.
At the wheel of the Hyundai Elantra N TCR of JT59 Racing Team, Daniel Teixeira took overall victory after a display of great maturity. The Portuguese driver started from pole position but chose a cautious approach in the opening laps, aware of the challenge of bringing the tyres up to temperature on a cold track. That prudence allowed him to lose the lead briefly, but once he found his rhythm, Teixeira significantly increased his pace, regained positions and reclaimed the lead, securing overall and Touring Car victory with authority.
Second overall went to Rui Miritta in the Monteiros Competições Porsche 911 Cup. The Portuguese driver faced a demanding race to secure this result but ultimately achieved his goals by winning both the GTC category and the Cup division, reinforcing his status as one of the championship’s standout performers.
Third place overall was taken by Duarte Camelo and Pompeu Simões in the Speedy Motorsport Porsche Cayman CS. The young driver made a superb start, leading the race for several laps. Although they did not retain the outright lead, the pair claimed victory in the GTX division — a result that confirmed their titles in both the Iberian Supercars and the Portuguese Championship of Speed.
Also in contention for the GTX lead were Chloé Grant and Henrique Moura Oliveira, driving the BMW M4 GT4 (F82) of Monteiros Competições, who managed to challenge the Speedy Motorsport Porsche. However, a penalty for failing to meet the minimum pit-stop time cost them the chance to fight directly for the class win, consolidating the advantage of Camelo and Simões.
Rounding out the overall top five were Ángel Santos and Gabriel Caçoilo in the Chefo Sport Petrogold Ligier JS2 R, and Luca Staccini and Gracie Mitchell in the Tockwith Motorsports Ginetta G55 — both competing in the GTX division — underlining the intense competitiveness of the category throughout the race.
In the TC division, featuring the young drivers of the FPAK Junior Team in Ginetta G40s run by Monteiros Competições, the race was once again marked by steady progress and consistency. Frederico Formiga and Frederico Castro, in the Art of Speed SEAT León Supercopa MK2, were the fastest in the division, while João Faria and Tomás Martins achieved solid results, highlighting the growing competitiveness of the project and its importance in developing emerging national talent.
Teixeira Turns the Tables on Miritta
The second race for the GTC and Touring Car categories of the Supercars Endurance was a fitting reflection of the intensity and balance that characterised the entire season, bringing a decisive close to the title battles in both the Iberian Supercars and the Portuguese Championship of Speed.
Daniel Teixeira started from pole position but didn’t make the best getaway in the Hyundai Elantra N TCR of JT59 Racing Team, allowing Rui Miritta, in the Monteiros Competições Porsche 911 Cup, to seize the lead.
The two drivers staged an intense duel for much of the race, with the Hyundai driver gradually increasing his pace until he was able to regain the lead. Teixeira ultimately prevailed overall, sealing a victory that confirmed his Touring Car titles in both the Iberian Supercars and the Portuguese Championship of Speed — crowning a season marked by consistency and strong comebacks.
Behind the winner, Rui Miritta finished second overall, securing another win in both the GTC category and the Cup division, confirming his dominance throughout the year.
One of the main highlights of the race was the battle for the GTX division win, with an intense fight between the Monteiros Competições BMW M4 GT4 (F82) of Henrique Moura Oliveira and Chloé Grant, and the Chefo Sport Petrogold Ligier JS2 R driven by Ángel Santos and Gabriel Caçoilo.
In the TC class, the young drivers of the FPAK Junior Team once again showed encouraging progress. João Faria and Martim Romão took victory after a consistent race, while Tomás Martins and Rodrigo Vilaça were forced to retire. Diogo Castro and Tomás Gomes, meanwhile, were unable to start due to gearbox issues with their Ginetta.
