The Circuit Ricardo Tormo hosted this afternoon the second test session of Supercars Endurance, which this weekend counts for both Iberian Supercars and Supercars Endurance, and the results confirmed what had already been anticipated in the morning: the competition is at its highest level and promises a thrilling weekend.
Among the GT4 field, the top four places were occupied by four cars from four different brands – Mercedes-AMG GT4, Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO and BMW M4 GT4 EVO – separated by just over three tenths of a second, a perfect snapshot of the competitiveness within the Supercars Endurance grid.
In GT4 Pro-Bronze, Guillermo Aso and Filip Vava put NM Racing Team’s Mercedes-AMG GT4 at the top of the timesheets, with Andrius Zemaitis and Karel Staut (NokoTech Racing by Speedy’s Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2) just 0.030s behind and Bruno Pereira and Gonçalo Araújo (Araújo Competição’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO) less than a tenth and a half from the lead, underlining how close the pace was – and is expected to remain – for the rest of the weekend.
In GT4 Pro, Francisco Mora and Francisco Abreu were the fastest in Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal’s Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, beating José Carlos Pires and Tomás Guedes (Speedy Motorsport’s Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2) and Roberto Faria and Mathieu Martins (Racar Motorsport’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4). This trio sets the tone for a highly contested qualifying session, with more challengers sure to join the fight.
Local driver Manuel Bertolín shone at the wheel of GT Corse’s BMW M4 GT4 EVO, topping GT4 Bronze and taking fourth overall. He beat Miguel and André Nabais (Gianfranco Motorsport’s Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2) and Vasco Oliveira and Francisco Carvalho (Racar Motorsport’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO), setting the stage for a strong battle in tomorrow’s qualifying.
Smörg and Javier Macías once again stood out in GT4 Am with Promotion Motorsport’s BMW M4 GT4 EVO, leaving Pedro Bastos Rezende and Rúben Vaquinhas (Gianfranco Motorsport’s Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4) in second and newcomers Vicente Dasí and Josep Perera (PCR Sport’s Mercedes-AMG GT4) completing the top three.
In the Cup division, Adam Fawsitt and Pedro Paiva Raposo were the quickest in Protech Motorsport’s Porsche 911 Cup. They were followed by the identical cars of Marcus Fothergill and Dave Benett (Tockwith Motorsports) and Vitor Costa (Monteiros Competições).
In GTX, Pompeu Simões and Duarte Camelo, with Speedy Motorsport’s Porsche Cayman CS, topped the division. The pairing of Alba Vázquez and Alfonso Colomina, fastest in the morning session, were just 0.537s behind in McLaren Barcelona – SMC Motorsport’s McLaren 570S GT4. Pere Marques and Gabriel Caçoilo, making his debut at the wheel of Chefo Sport by Petrogold’s Ligier JS2R, completed the top three. The short gaps – less than six tenths between the top three and under a second covering the top six – point to a weekend full of close racing.
With these results, it is clear that spectators at the circuit – and those following remotely – are set for a weekend packed with excitement and wheel-to-wheel battles, where every tenth of a second could make the difference between victory and the podium.
At Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Sunday’s programme includes two decisive races: the first starting at 10:05 and the second at 15:05, both lasting 50 minutes and promising intense action from start to chequered flag.
All the action will be broadcast live on DAZN Portugal and DAZN Spain, as well as on the official social media channels of the competition (in Spanish). For international fans, there will be English coverage on Alpha Live’s YouTube channel, German coverage on Motorsport Television Deutschland and Italian coverage on Parc Férme TV, taking the spectacle of Supercars Endurance beyond borders.
