CV PERFORMANCE X JP MOTORSPORT HIGHLIGHTS THE STRENGTHS OF SUPERCARS ENDURANCE

CV Performance x JP Motorsport is consolidating its presence in Supercars Endurance with a strategy clearly focused on developing young drivers, using the championship as a stepping stone towards careers in GT4 and, ultimately, GT3. The German outfit currently competes with a Mercedes-AMG GT4 entrusted to Himar Acosta and Kyam Potez in the GT4 Pro-Bronze division, with the project set to be strengthened in upcoming rounds by the arrival of a second car for Gustav Berglund.

The team's commitment to Supercars Endurance began after following the championship's development and identifying a particularly attractive combination of grid quality, competitive standards and costs. For Jan Lehmann, team principal of CV Performance x JP Motorsport, this combination makes the championship particularly well suited to drivers taking their first steps into the GT4 world.

“Last year, we became aware of the championship through the number of cars on the grids and the quality of the drivers competing in it. From our perspective, the level of the field is just behind the GT4 European Series, but at a much more accessible cost. That combination makes Supercars Endurance a perfect platform for developing young drivers,” explains Jan Lehmann, who has been running the team on site since the beginning of 2025.

The experience gained during the team's first season ultimately strengthened that belief. The outfit found a strong championship, well-organised events and a paddock environment that it considers particularly positive for a driver development project. The progress made by the organisation and, in particular, the introduction of dedicated GT4 races were also decisive in the decision to continue its commitment.

“The way the championship organisers work and continue to develop the series also played an important role. In particular, the separate races for GT4 cars convinced us to return this year. We had a first season that gave us exactly the experience we were looking for and allowed us to better understand the competition, the organisation and how we should approach our second season,” adds the German team principal.

On track, the project has also demonstrated its competitiveness. Himar Acosta and Kyam Potez took the Mercedes-AMG GT4 to third place in the GT4 Pro-Bronze division in the opening race of the season in the Algarve, a result that has helped the team currently sit third in the division in the Iberian Supercars standings. In Supercars España, the outfit is fifth.

The next phase of the project will see the integration of Gustav Berglund. The young Swedish driver is preparing for his GT4 debut in a second Mercedes-AMG GT4 entered by the German outfit, after competing in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge Sweden in 2026 and now embarking on a new stage of his career. For CV Performance x JP Motorsport, the priority will be less about immediate results and more about providing the driver with the conditions required to gain experience and progress quickly.

“These will be Gustav's first GT4 races and our entire focus will be on ensuring that he learns as much as possible. At the same time, we already see the potential for him to achieve respectable results despite being a rookie. It is a very interesting situation for us because it allows us to combine development with the opportunity to measure his progress in a competitive environment,” says Jan Lehmann.

Berglund's arrival therefore forms part of a broader strategy in which Supercars Endurance is one of the team's main tools for preparing young drivers. The aim is to allow drivers such as Gustav Berglund and Kyam Potez to build mileage, learn to operate within a professional environment and develop the skills required to progress through the GT ladder, with GT3 as the ultimate target.

“Driver development remains our main objective this season. We want to give young talents such as Gustav and Kyam a competitive, but also financially accessible, environment in which they can gain experience and develop. Our goal is to prepare them for GT4 and, subsequently, help them progress into GT3,” says the CV Performance x JP Motorsport team principal.

This vision also explains the strategic importance the championship has assumed for the German outfit. The team sees Supercars Endurance as one component of a long-term driver development programme and admits that it intends to remain involved in the series in future seasons, provided the championship continues along the growth trajectory it has demonstrated.

“Given the way the championship currently presents itself, it is an important part of our young driver development programme. If it continues to evolve in the way we have seen so far, it is very likely that we will continue to participate in the future,” concludes Jan Lehmann.

Supercars Endurance will return to action from 25 to 27 September at Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia for the fourth round of the season, which will count towards both the Iberian Supercars and Supercars España championships.
