Gianfranco Motorsport yesterday officially unveiled its sporting programme for the 2026 Supercars Endurance season, confirming a five-car assault for what will be the Porto-based outfit’s second campaign in the leading circuit racing series on the Iberian Peninsula.

Following an extremely positive debut season, highlighted by titles and strong results, the structure led by Carlos ‘Ginho’ Rodrigues is now expanding its presence across the grid, entering cars in several GT4 divisions as well as the GTX division.

In the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, the team retains the pairing of Alexandre Areia and Nuno Afonso, who secured the 2025 Iberian Supercars GT4 Pro-Bronze title. The duo will continue in the GT4 Pro-Bronze division this season with the objective of establishing themselves among the division’s leading contenders.

The second Toyota will be entrusted to brothers André Nabais and Miguel Nabais, who will compete once again in GT4 Bronze, maintaining continuity in an increasingly competitive championship.

The Portuguese outfit will also field an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo entered by RV7 in the GT4 Pro division, to be driven by Sweden’s Joel Bergström and Brazil’s Roberto Faria. The pairing combines youth, speed and international experience, further strengthening the team’s ambitions in the premier GT4 category.

Meanwhile, in GT4 Am, the team will run an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 for Rubén Vaquinhas and series newcomer Mico Mineiro, a duo determined to challenge for the division titles following the championships secured by the Lisbon driver in 2025. Their entry will also be entered by RV7.

In the GTX division of the GTC championship, Bruno Salgado and Rodrigo Pires will share a Porsche Cayman CS MR GT4 in a project bringing together a driver coming from the Civic Cup and a young talent progressing from karting.

The expansion of the team for the new season is regarded by ‘Ginho’ Rodrigues as the natural reflection of the work carried out since Gianfranco Motorsport entered the championship.

“We will be represented in every GT4 division as well as in GTX Am, which clearly demonstrates the scale of our commitment to the championship. We believe we have the conditions to fight for the top positions in all those categories, although we are fully aware that the competitive level will be extremely high”, explained the head of Gianfranco Motorsport before adding: “this year the championship will be stronger and more competitive than ever, forcing every team to operate at a very high level. We know we will face demanding challenges, but we are confident in the work of the team and believe we will be up to the task.”

The 2026 Supercars Endurance season gets underway between 15 and 17 May at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, as part of the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival, which will simultaneously launch the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Campeonato de Supercars de España seasons.
