RACE 1: Daniel Teixeira Shines with an Epic Fightback

Daniel Teixeira produced one of the standout performances of the weekend at Jerez de la Frontera, taking a brilliant overall victory in the Supercars Endurance race for the GTC and Touring categories.

Returning to action after his appearance in Vila Real, the JT59 Racing Team driver showed exceptional pace, claiming both the overall win and TCR class honours after a remarkable charge from the back of the grid to the top step of the podium.

Challenging track conditions made the feat even more impressive. The cold, damp asphalt — still wet from overnight rain — made grip unpredictable and demanded precise car control from every driver.

For Teixeira, the challenge was twofold: he started from last place after suffering brake problems during Saturday’s qualifying session. Although the issue wasn’t completely resolved, the Hyundai Elantra N TCR driver remained composed and delivered a flawless, aggressive drive filled with consistency and pace.

His speed was so strong that he led the race on two separate occasions, despite having to serve a ten-second handicap as a result of his previous victory in the TCR World Tour.

The comeback was a true display of skill and endurance, sealing an outright win that further cements Teixeira’s status as one of the championship’s top competitors.

Chefo Sport Petrogold also enjoyed an impressive outing, with two of its cars finishing just behind Teixeira. Gabriel Caçoilo, sharing driving duties with series debutant Himar Acosta, ran second for much of the race and was the leading GTX contender for several laps. However, he ultimately conceded the position to teammates Ángel Santos and Alejandro Iribas, who were locked in battle for the Supercars España title in their division. The Spanish outfit ended the race with a one-two finish in GTX and another strong overall team performance.

In the Cup class, Tockwith Motorsport duo Marcus Fothergill and Dave Benett took victory after a clean and consistent drive. They benefitted from the early retirement of André Fernandes, who slid off the track in the opening laps while leading comfortably. The Portuguese-American driver, who had secured pole position the previous day, saw his debut podium hopes disappear, handing the win to his rival. Second place finisher Rui Miritta lost time in the pits, and couldn't be a match for the British drivers. Vitor Costa was third of the Cup division at the flag.

Among the TC runners, the trio of FPAK Junior Team Ginetta G40s continued their strong weekend form, with Diogo Castro and João Faria taking class honours ahead of Martim Gomes and Tomás Martins in second, while Martim Romão and Rodrigo Vilaça completed the podium.

RACE 2: Camelo and Simões Snatch Victory in Dramatic Final Moments

The second race for the GTC and Touring categories of the Supercars Endurance at Jerez produced a dramatic and unpredictable finish, as Duarte Camelo and Simões Pompeu claimed victory at the wheel of the Speedy Motorsport Porsche Cayman CS, after André Fernandes, who had led until the very end, was forced to pit on the final lap due to mechanical problems with his AF & V Motorsport Porsche.

The race began with an intense battle between three Porsches — those of Fernandes, Rui Miritta, and Marcus Fothergill — joined by Daniel Teixeira in the Hyundai Elantra N TCR, who once again impressed with a charge from the back of the grid. In the opening laps, the four drivers delivered a thrilling spectacle that kept the Jerez crowd on edge, showcasing the exceptional competitiveness of the championship.

Before the halfway mark, Marcus Fothergill was the first to drop out of the lead battle when a radiator failure forced him to park his Tockwith Motorsports Porsche 911 Cup. Shortly after, Daniel Teixeira, who had been running in podium contention, was sidelined with an engine failure in his JT59 Racing Team Hyundai, after a superb series of laps.

With positions settling, André Fernandes maintained the lead under pressure from Duarte Camelo, who pushed hard in the closing stages. The AF & V Motorsport driver looked set for a breakthrough victory when, on the very last lap, a mechanical issue forced him to head to the pits — handing Camelo and Simões Pompeu a memorable win for Speedy Motorsport.

With a perfectly managed pace, Rui Miritta finished second, securing the Cup division title in Supercars España after a smart and consistent performance. Completing the overall top three were Luca Staccini and Gracie Mitchell in the Tockwith Motorsports Ginetta G55, who continued the British team’s strong form and took second in GTX, ahead of Henrique Moura Oliveira and Chloe Grant, who claimed third in the division.

The Portuguese driver from Valongo had further cause for celebration, also clinching the GTC championship title.

In the GTX division, Chefo Sport Petrogold sealed the Spanish title thanks to Ángel Santos and Alejandro Iribas, who finished sixth overall and scored the points needed to secure the Supercars España GTX crown.

Among the TC contenders, the young drivers of the FPAK Junior Team continued their progress at the wheel of the Monteiros Competições-run Ginetta G40s. The pairing of Diogo Castro and João Faria took class victory, ahead of Martim Romão and Rodrigo Vilaça, while Tomás Martins and Tomás Gomes completed the group, in another consistent performance from the promising Portuguese federation-backed talents.

With these results, João Faria not only secured the Supercars España division title, but also became the first driver to win the Touring Car championship in the Spanish arm of the Supercars Endurance series.

Following the Jerez round, the Supercars Endurance caravan now heads to the Autódromo do Estoril from 28–30 December, where the Iberian Supercars and Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade titles will be decided.
