The Supercars Endurance series returns to the track next weekend with the second round of Supercars España, which will be held at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE, as part of the Jarama Classic event.

Following the resounding success of the season opener, which featured a grid of 48 cars and races decided in the closing moments, the first Spanish round of the year is once again expected to deliver large starting grids and thrilling races.

For this event, which counts exclusively towards the Supercars España championship, 33 entries are expected – 16 GT4s, 13 GTCs and four Touring Cars – promising yet again a spectacle for the many fans expected over the weekend, both trackside and watching on DAZN España, DAZN Portugal, and YouTube in various languages.

GT4 - Rematch Between BMW España Motorsport and NM Racing Team

The GT4 category once again leads with the highest number of cars on track – sixteen across four divisions.

In GT4 Pro, with seven cars, the NM Racing Team’s Mercedes AMG GT4, shared by Max Huber and Tomás Granzella, and the BMW España Motorsport’s BMW M4 GT4 (G82), driven by Nerea Martí and José de los Milagros, are the main favourites. Spectators are anticipating a repeat of last year’s intense battle between two of Spain’s most prominent teams.

However, these two outfits will face stiff competition from international teams. Racar Motorsport, buoyed by strong results in the Algarve, hope Mathieu Martins and Roberto Faria can maintain that momentum in their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4. Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal heads to Jarama aiming to repeat its Portimão win with Francisco Mora and Francisco Abreu behind the wheel of their Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.

Speedy Motorsport returns to the grid with a strong two-car assault in the GT4 Pro division, fielding a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 for the rapid pairing of José Carlos Pires and Tomás Guedes, alongside a Porsche Cayman CS RS piloted by José Aguiar Branco and Bernardo Pinheiro. Both crews have shown solid pace and consistency, and will be firmly in the mix for podium contention in what promises to be a fiercely competitive GT4 field.

German team CV Performance x JP Motorsport could also spring a surprise with their Mercedes AMG GT4 driven by Jonathan Engström and Louis Leveau, the latter making his debut for the German squad after racing in Formula Nordic.

NM Racing Team will also be targeting wins in GT4 Pro Bronze with three cars. Guillermo Aso and Filip Vava, winners of the first Algarve race, are favourites again. They’ll face two Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVOs – one from Gianfranco Motorsport driven by Nuno Afonso and Alexandre Areia, and another from Batina Racing, which sees historic racing driver Miguel Lobo join Orlando Batina for this round, replacing Sérgio Azevedo.

A third NM Racing Team Mercedes car, entered in GT4 Bronze, will be driven by Ricardo Costa, who will this time be joined by Colombian newcomer Andrés Prieto, with both drivers aiming for a strong result on the challenging Madrid circuit.

Nevertheless, Andrius Zemaitis in a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 from GT Race Marbella by Speedy, and Vasco Oliveira and Francisco Carvalho, debuting for Racar Motorsport in an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO, will be doing their best to challenge the Spanish team's dominance.

Promotion Motorsport, racing on home soil, will fight for GT4 Am honours after two second-place finishes in Portimão. Smörg and Javier Macias, in their BMW M4 GT4 (G82), are the favourites.

Filipe Videira and António Lopes, steadily improving in their Aston Martin from Racar Motorsport, face a tough task in overcoming the local advantage enjoyed by the BMW drivers.

GTC – Spaniards with Strong Chances of Success

In the GTC class, the Spanish "afición" will also have local heroes to support, particularly among the nine GTX entries.

Four of the cars eligible for this sub-class (for GT4 cars no longer homologated) will be racing on home ground, marking them as favourites.

Alfonso Colomina and Alba Vázquez, in the McLaren 570S GT4 from SMC Motorsport - McLaren Barcelona, impressed in the Algarve with a win and a third-place finish and currently lead the championship standings, aiming for a home victory.

They’ll face stiff competition from Borja Hormigos and Héctor Hernández in the BMW M4 GT4 (F82) from Autoworks Motorsport. Although the local drivers suffered bad luck in Portimão, they showed pace and will want to repeat their victory from last year in front of a home crowd.

Chefo Sport by Petrogold will also be aiming high, fielding two sleek Ligier JS2 Rs – one for Angel Santos and Alejandro Iribas (who were quick in the Algarve), and another for Nicolás Abella.

Despite Spanish teams’ strong form, they’ll have to contend with the formidable Ginetta G55 fleet from Tockwith Motorsports. The British outfit will run two cars – one for Steve Kirton and Jonathan Elsworth, another for series newcomers Gracie Mitchell and Luca Staccini, and another for Simon Moore.

From Portugal, the BMW M4 GT4 (F82) of Monteiros Competições driven by Henrique Moura Oliveira and Rubén Silva, who performed well in the Algarve, and the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 from NGT (this time driven solo by Miguel Ferreira) will also be in contention.

In the Cup division, there are five entries – four Porsche 911 Cups and one Ferrari 430 Challenge – setting the stage for one of motorsport’s most iconic and historic battles.

Representing Zuffenhausen automaker is Spanish team Lan GP Racing, making its Supercars España debut at Jarama. Drivers Angel Lanchares and Ramiro García-Pumarino will aim to please their home crowd. GTC Champion Rui Miritta (Monteiros Competições), winner of both Portimão races, is a top contender, alongside Dave Benett and Marcus Fothergill (Tockwith Motorsports). Vítor Costa (Monteiros Competições) will also look to build on his solid Portimão performance.

On the Maranello front, Protech Motorsport fields Pedro Paiva Raposo and Adam Fawsitt, focused on continuing their adaptation to the exotic Italian machine.

Touring Cars – Youth vs Experience

Four entries are set to contest the Touring Car class, with three of them being Ginetta G40s fielded by the FPAK Junior Team. Once again, the spotlight will be on the fierce intra-team scrap among the "young wolves" – Rodrigo Vilaça, Diogo Castro, Martim Romão, Tomás Gomes, João Faria, and Tomás Martins – all eager to make their mark and stake a claim as the next rising star in Portuguese motorsport.

However, much of the crowd’s attention will be on Alexander Villanueva, driving a Hyundai i30 N TCR from RX Pro Racing. With two Spanish Gravel Rally Championship titles (2006 and 2016) and several circuit wins to his name, his presence adds a strong veteran presence to the field.
