Supercars Endurance resumes in just one week with another round of Supercars España, set to take place at the legendary Circuito Madrid Jarama - RACE. This iconic and challenging track holds a special place in the hearts of Spanish motorsport fans.

Located in the Spanish capital, the circuit was inaugurated in 1967 and boasts a rich motorsport heritage. It hosted the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix from 1968 to 1981 (with exceptions in 1969, 1971, 1973, and 1976), offering countless memorable moments – none more so than Gilles Villeneuve’s epic victory, arguably the most iconic in its history.

Designed by John Hugenholtz, the mastermind behind Suzuka and Zandvoort, Jarama is a staple on the Supercars Endurance calendar. It forms part of the celebrated Jarama Classic, a true highlight of the year for Spanish drivers, as explained by Alejandro Iribas: “Racing at Jarama always carries a special meaning, but this time it's even more so. This is my home circuit – where I want to win – but oddly enough, I’ve had very few chances to race here. Every time I return to Jarama feels like a blessing. The support of the Madrid fans, seeing the grandstands full, it’s something that moves me and fills me with energy. I’m incredibly motivated to give everything this weekend – for myself, for the team, and for everyone who makes this circuit so special.”

Series newcomer Iribas competes in the GTX division, sharing a Ligier JS2R from Chefo Sport with Ángel Santos.

Héctor Hernández, who drives a BMW M4 (F82) GT4 from Autoworks Motorsport, also speaks fondly of his time at the northern Madrid venue, and looks ahead with ambition: “Coming back to Jarama gives us an extra push. It’s a huge challenge to go fast around such a historic circuit – and doing it in front of friends, family, and sponsors makes it all the more rewarding. Especially when you win – like we did in 2024, standing atop the GT4 Bronze podium. The Jarama Classic is without a doubt the event of the year, and a race weekend no one should miss.”

José de los Milagros, who shares a BMW M4 GT4 from BMW España Motorsport with Nerea Martí, is another local hero racing on home soil: “Being from Madrid, it’s always something special to race at Jarama – especially in front of the local fans who always turn out in big numbers. Nerea and I will be pushing hard for a strong result.”

Jarama’s location in a major European capital makes it easily accessible, and it’s not uncommon to see packed stands during the Jarama Classic. For many Madrid-based motorsport enthusiasts, a trip to the circuit is a tradition whenever there’s racing on.

That emotional connection is especially strong for Borja Hormigos, teammate to Héctor Hernández at Autoworks Motorsport: “Jarama is incredibly special to me – it’s my home circuit, where I watched my first races with my dad, made my racing debut, and scored my first win,” says the Madrid native.

His affection for the track is clear, and he acknowledges the level of challenge it presents: “Jarama is the toughest circuit on the calendar, even though it’s the shortest. It’s a complete layout – mixing slow, technical corners with very fast ones. And to make things harder, the elevation changes – with climbs like Pegaso and drops like Bugatti – take your breath away.”

There’s no question that Jarama is one of the most demanding tracks on the schedule – a true driver’s circuit, as explained by Nil Montserrat, team principal of NM Racing Team, who fields three Mercedes-AMG GT4 cars: “Racing at Jarama is always a challenge – and I love it! It’s a very technical track that demands absolute precision from the drivers. It’s a proper ‘old-school’ circuit with lots of elevation changes. Drivers who really understand the ideal line through each corner can make a massive difference. It suits the Mercedes-AMG GT4 well, and we’ll be pushing hard for the win.”

Jarama is revered across the motorsport world – every corner steeped in history. It’s a place where the greats rise above the machinery and make their mark.

Perhaps that’s why fans flock to the Jarama Classic, to relive iconic moments from the past – and to witness new ones being written. And with another chapter set to unfold on May 31 and June 1, another full house is all but guaranteed.

Tickets for this iconic Madrid event are available via El Corte Inglés stores in Spain or online at jarama.org/competicion/jarama-classic-2025.

Those unable to attend the Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE can follow all the 50-minute races live on DAZN Portugal and DAZN España, as well as on the series’ official Spanish-language social media channels.

Additionally, English-language coverage will be available on Alpha Live’s YouTube channel, German coverage on Motorsport Television Deutschland, and Italian coverage on Parc Fermé TV.
