Protech Motorsport is preparing to tackle the 2026 Supercars Endurance season with a substantially strengthened structure, in a project that highlights the fast growth of the Portuguese team within the Iberian Peninsula’s leading racing championship. Following an encouraging debut season, the Portuguese outfit led by Moisés Martins will field three cars this year across the Cup and GTX Am divisions of the GTC category.
The Portuguese team made its championship debut in 2025 with a Ferrari 430 Challenge driven by Pedro Paiva Raposo and Adam Fawsitt, immediately showing promising signs regarding the potential of the project. For the new season, Protech Motorsport is taking a significant step forward, undertaking a major overhaul in terms of both cars and drivers, clearly reinforcing its sporting ambitions.
In the Cup division, the team will campaign two Porsche 991 Cup cars. One of them will be entrusted to the British pairing of Marcus Fothergill and Dave Benett, drivers who join Protech Motorsport after several seasons in the series.
The second Porsche will be shared by series newcomer Craig Davies and Pedro Paiva Raposo.
At the same time, the team will also compete in the GTX Am division with a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport, entrusted to Lucas Fothergill, who made his car racing debut in 2025, and Nicole Drought. The Irish driver, who has been building a solid career in British and international competition, emerges as one of the most interesting additions to Protech Motorsport’s 2026 programme, forming a pairing that combines youth, speed and considerable potential for development.
The expansion of the operation reflects the growing presence of the Portuguese structure within the Iberian series paddock, while also benefiting from the expansion of the GTC category, which this year gains renewed prominence with the separation of grids from the GT4 field. This measure will allow races exclusively dedicated to GTC and Touring Cars, increasing the exposure of the teams and creating more direct battles for overall victories.
“Expectations are naturally high. Our objective is to fight for victories in both GTX Am and Cup, in both the drivers’ and teams’ championships. This expansion of Protech Motorsport is the result of the work that has been carried out in strengthening the team’s technical and human structure, something that ultimately attracted the interest of new drivers to join the project. We know the competitive level will be extremely high, but we believe we have the conditions to fight at the front throughout the season,” said Moisés Martins, Managing Director of Protech Motorsport.
The 2026 Supercars Endurance season will begin between 15 and 17 May at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in a round forming part of the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival, an event that will simultaneously host the Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and the Campeonato de España de Supercars.
