Speedy Motorsport is gearing up for another competitive season following an unforgettable 2024, as it announces the drivers and supported entry for its five-car campaign across the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España.
Last season, Speedy Motorsport made history by securing the GT drivers' Title in the Spanish, Iberian, and Portuguese championships. As if that weren’t enough, the team also clinched titles in the GT4 Pro, GT4 AM, and GTX divisions of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade (CPV). It was a remarkable season, where teamwork and dedication were rewarded with the most coveted trophies in the Iberian Peninsula. But 2024 is in the past. The stopwatch never stops and only moves forward.
Now, with a new lineup of drivers and well-defined objectives, the team embarks on a year that promises to be both challenging and thrilling. The new season brings a mix of continuity and change, experience and youth.
César Machado remains with the team to defend his 2024 titles, and joining him is Rafael Lobato, making his debut in the most prestigious Iberian competition. They reunite a duo that first competed together in 2016, this time at the wheel of a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, entered in the GT4 Pro division.
In another Japanese built machine competing in the same division, a new pairing takes the stage: José Carlos Pires, the 2023 Champion, returns to Speedy Motorsport. Alongside him is a young talent who stood out last season, winning the GT4 Italy and the Porsche Sprint Challenge Suisse: Tomás Guedes.
Also in GT4 Pro, the Portuguese team will enter a Porsche Cayman RS CS, to be shared by young Bernardo Pinheiro, who has already competed in GT4 races in national competitions before focusing on prototypes, and João Aguiar Branco, who has built his career on national circuits while racing for the Maia-based team.
The GTX duo from Speedy Motorsport carries over from 2024 into 2025. After completing the final rounds of last season as part of their adaptation and familiarisation with the competition and the car, Pompeu Simões and Duarte Camelo continue at the wheel of a Porsche Cayman GT4 CS.
In addition to the aforementioned line ups, Pedro Salvador’s structure will also support GT Race Marbella by Speedy. This year, Andrius Žemaitis takes a step forward, competing in the season with a Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 and moving into the GT4 Bronze category.
Pedro Salvador, Speedy Motorsport’s Team Principal, is enthusiastic about the drivers assembled for the 2025 campaign, with eyes firmly set on titles: “it is with great pride and satisfaction that Speedy presents its driver line-up for the 2025 season. After two successful seasons in GT4, with multiple titles in 2023 and especially in 2024, we remain strongly committed to this competition, with a roster of high-quality drivers. The focus for this year remains the same: to grow as a team, further improve processes, and enhance both individual and collective development. We have a strong, stable structure that will support the talent of our drivers. We have three pairings targeting the GT4 Pro and Absolute titles, one duo aiming for the GTX title, and a satellite project with Andrius, another driver who has been growing with us”.
The Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, and Supercars España seasons kick off this weekend at Portimão, with races available to watch on DAZN Portugal, DAZN Spain, and the Race Ready’s social media channels.
