Ángel Santos and Alejandro Iribas have confirmed their continuation in Supercars Endurance, remaining at the wheel of the Chefo Sport-run Ligier JS2 R and competing in the GTX division across all three championships in 2026.
Following a breakthrough season, crowned by the GTX division title in Supercars España, the Spanish pairing are doubling down on their commitment for next year, lining up for all six rounds of the calendar. This decision allows them to defend the crown they secured while simultaneously mounting a clear challenge for the Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade titles.
For Ángel Santos, renewing his commitment to the series comes with added motivation, driven by the prospect of new sporting challenges. The Spanish driver does not hide his enthusiasm at the opportunity to race on a street circuit for the first time, with the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real standing out as one of the highlights of the season.
“I’m really looking forward to driving at Vila Real. I always hear great things about the circuit and I’ve never raced on a street track, so I can’t wait for July to experience it. We’ll be doing it again with the Ligier, which makes it even more special,” Ángel Santos said.
Alejandro Iribas highlights the competitive level and the appeal of the championship as key factors behind their decision to continue.
“We chose Supercars Endurance because it’s a very high-level championship with a wide variety of cars from different manufacturers, making it extremely attractive for drivers at a European level. There are always strong on-track battles and intense title fights. Our objective is to win Supercars España again and, this year, also contest Iberian Supercars, aiming for the overall GTC category title,” explained Alejandro Iribas.
The 2026 season brings an additional incentive for the duo with the introduction of separate races for GTC and Touring competitors, a format that promises higher-quality track time, greater competitive clarity and even more direct battles within each category. This scenario enhances the sporting interest and elevates the spectacle, further reinforcing the ambitions of Alejandro Iribas and Ángel Santos in a season that is shaping up to be particularly demanding.
Supercars Endurance gets underway in 2026 at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve from 15 to 17 May, kicking off a six-event season that also visits the Spanish circuits of Jarama, Jerez and Valencia. The official pre-season test is scheduled for 21 March at the Autódromo do Estoril.
