The second round of the Supercars Endurance season, held as part of the prestigious Jarama Classic and counting towards the Campeonato de España de Supercars, got underway with Daniel Teixeira establishing himself as the outright benchmark among the GTC and Touring Car contenders during this morning’s qualifying sessions at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama–RACE.

In front of the large crowd already gathered at the Madrid circuit for one of the most iconic motorsport events on the Iberian Peninsula, Portuguese driver Daniel Teixeira put the JT59 Racing Team Hyundai Elantra N TCR at the top of both qualifying sessions, confirming the pace he had already demonstrated during the opening round in the Algarve.

Teixeira secured pole position for both races, setting a 1m39.371s lap in Qualifying 1 before improving further to 1m39.238s in Qualifying 2. The Portuguese driver’s advantage was particularly evident in the opening session, although the field responded in the second qualifying session, closing the gap to the Hyundai driver's benchmark.

In addition to topping the overall classification, Daniel Teixeira also claimed pole position in TC+. The Portimão class winner once again demonstrated why he is currently the benchmark in the category, relegating championship newcomer André Ferreira, driving the rare LOB Motorsport Kia Ceed TCR, to second place.

The Cup division produced one of the closest battles of the session. Ángel Lanchares placed the Lan GP Racing Porsche 911 Cup at the head of the category with a 1m40.482s lap, but Rui Miritta, representing Monteiros Competições, finished less than a second behind the leader. Ramiro García-Pumarino, also driving for Lan GP Racing, followed closely behind, completing a trio of Porsches separated by only a few tenths of a second.

António Almeida confirmed Tockwith Motorsport’s excellent form by emerging as the fastest driver in GTX. The winner of the second Algarve race took the Ginetta G55 to category pole position with a 1m41.074s lap, ahead of the Chefo Sport by Petrogold Ligier JS2Rs driven by Ángel Santos and Alba Vázquez, who secured the next two positions in a division where the margins once again proved extremely small.

The BMW M2 Cup benefited from the growing strength of the FPAK Junior Team. Diego Sirgado put the BeFast Motorsport BMW M2 Racing at the top of the category, ahead of team-mate Bernardo Passanha. Francisca “Kika” Queiroz, the pioneer of the division on the Iberian Peninsula, completed the top three aboard the LOB Motorsport BMW M2 Racing.

Nicole Drought set the twelfth-fastest overall time and was the quickest driver in GTX Am at the wheel of the Protech Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS.

In the second session, Daniel Teixeira once again left his rivals with no answer. The Portuguese driver improved his benchmark even further to secure another outright pole position, while newcomer André Ferreira repeated his second-place result in TC+.

Cup produced a reshuffled order. This time, Ramiro García-Pumarino put the Lan GP Racing Porsche 911 Cup at the top of the timesheets, reversing positions with Ángel Lanchares. Rui Miritta once again confirmed the consistency he has displayed throughout the weekend by securing another second place, while Dave Benett and Marcus Fothergill placed the Protech Motorsport Porsche in third. It should be remembered that Fothergill won the opening race of the division in the Algarve.

GTX delivered one of the most impressive performances of the day. Gabriel Caçoilo, winner of the first race in Portimão, took the Chefo Sport by Petrogold Ligier JS2R to the top of the division with a 1m40.025s lap, setting the second-fastest overall time of the session, only a short distance behind Daniel Teixeira. Ivo Prada placed the TRS McLaren 570S GT4 in second position, while Aubrey Hall confirmed the consistency of the Ginetta G55 by securing third place.

In the M2 division, the two BeFast Motorsport BMWs exchanged positions. Nathan Corbet moved to the top of the category, with Gonçalo Moura close behind. Francisca Roby Queiroz once again secured third position.

Englishman Lucas Fothergill set the fourteenth-fastest time overall, making him the quickest driver in GTX Am.

With the grids now set and the gaps reduced across virtually every category, all the ingredients are in place for two particularly hard-fought races. The Supercars Endurance GTC/Touring Car races will take place this Saturday at 14:15 and Sunday at 13:05 at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama–RACE. Fans will be able to follow all the action live on DAZN Portugal and DAZN Spain, as well as on the official Race Ready YouTube channel, with commentary in Spanish and English. International coverage will also be provided by Motorsport TV Deutschland in Germany, Parc Fermé in Italy and Braking Zone TV in Brazil.
