HY Racing is set to participate in the final round of the Supercars Endurance series Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, held at the Estoril Circuit on November 30 and December 1, with a Porsche Cayman GTS driven by Bruno Barbaro and Jacques Derenne.
The Belgian team, a regular contender in the Iberian Historic Endurance series, has experience in modern car competitions, sparking its interest in entering Portugal's premier circuit racing championship.
HY Racing is a regular in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS), a series held entirely at the legendary Nordschleife-Nürburgring circuit in the Eifel mountains, under the same regulations used for the iconic 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
Armed with this extensive experience, the team will join the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade season-finale, entrusting their German car to Italian driver Bruno Barbaro and Belgian driver Jacques Derenne. Both are seasoned competitors at the 'Green Hell,' having achieved pole positions and class victories, making them strong contenders in the GTX division.
Olivier Muytjens, HY Racing's Team Principal, expressed his enthusiasm for the team's debut in Portuguese series, hinting at potential full-season participation in 2025: "We have competed in several Iberian Historic Endurance events and observed the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Iberian Supercars series. Both are well-organized and highly competitive, which piqued our interest in entering with our Porsche. This opportunity to compete with our regular drivers, Bruno and Jacques, is exciting and could mark the start of a more consistent involvement next season."
Muytjens acknowledges the high level of competition in the GTX division but remains optimistic about the team's prospects at Estoril: "The competition in GTX is intense, and we need to find where we stand. However, we are committed to working hard from the outset to improve and fight for victories, even though we know it won’t be an easy task."
The season's final round will take place on November 30 and December 1. Entry to Grandstand A is free, while paddock access, including backstage activities, requires a pass costing €20 for the weekend or €15 for a single day.
Passes can be purchased on the BOL.pt website or at any FNAC or Worten outlet nationwide until November 29. On the event days, paddock tickets will only be available at the circuit's ticket office.
On Sunday, all races will be broadcast live on Race Ready's Facebook and YouTube channels. Both Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade races will also be aired in Portugal on A Bola TV and in Spain on DAZN.
