Campeonato de España de Supercars: the moment of truth has arrived

The moment of truth has arrived! On 7 and 8 November, the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto will host the deciding round of the Campeonato de España de Supercars, with the GT4, GTC and TC titles still to be settled. After a season of intense battles and closely fought points standings that have kept several drivers in contention, the time has come for everything to be decided and the 2026 champions to be crowned.
The Jerez Iberian Racing Festival brings the Campeonato de España de Supercars season to a close, with all three categories still wide open. With 25 points awarded for each victory, the two races this weekend have the potential to completely reshape the standings and turn pressure into spectacle. Speed, strategy and the ability to keep pushing until the chequered flag will be crucial in a meeting where every contender will have to give their all to secure the title.
GT4 promises an intense battle
In GT4, Portuguese-Mozambican pairing Francisco Mora and Rodrigo Almeida head to the Andalusian round at the top of the standings with 92 points, driving the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 entered by Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal. They hold an 11-point advantage over César Machado and Tomás Teixeira, who lie second in the Speedy Motorsport Toyota Supra. Luis Aguiar and Rafael Rajani are level on points with them, competing in the McLaren Artura GT4 entered by Spanish outfit McLaren Barcelona-SMC Motorsport. With just 11 points separating the three pairings, the title fight remains completely open.
The next group of GT4 contenders includes several pairings that have already demonstrated their ability to fight at the front and arrive in Jerez with the potential to shake up the title battle. NM Racing Team's Filip Vava and Tomás Granzella occupy fourth place with 69 points, following a series of competitive performances in their Mercedes-AMG GT4, including podium finishes. Francisco Abreu and José Carlos Pires have 60 points and have already celebrated division victories in the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 entered by Toyota Gazoo Racing Caetano Portugal. Eric Gené and Jan Durán, meanwhile, arrive on a high after securing their first overall victory as a pairing, as well as BMW España Motorsport's first win of the season, in Valencia with the BMW M4 GT4 Evo. They currently have 56 points.
Alexandre Areia and Nuno Afonso, with 45 points, have also proved that they have the pace to challenge for the leading positions, having secured an overall victory at Portimão in the Gianfranco Motorsport Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2. Raúl Zunzarren and Rúben Costa have 39 points, while Nuno Pires and Orlando Batina, from Batina Racing, are level on 38 points with Anton Morsing and Mathieu Martins of RACAR Motorsport.
For the latter pairing, the challenge also involves overcoming a season marked by setbacks. After losing an almost certain victory at Jarama due to a mechanical failure on the final lap, a suspension problem ruled them out of contention in the following race. They then suffered another retirement due to technical issues in Valencia, despite being among the leading contenders. The Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 EVO has already demonstrated winning pace, but the Portuguese-Danish pairing will need to turn that potential into results in a final round where every point counts.

Who will succeed Rui Miritta?
In GTC, the battle to succeed Rui Miritta also promises plenty of intensity. Gabriel Caçoilo and Máximo Varela arrive in Jerez leading the standings with 80 points, followed by Alejandro Iribas and Ángel Santos, who have 71. Dave Bennett and Marcus Fothergill occupy third place with 66 points, while Ramiro García-Pumarino is fourth with 62, at the wheel of the Porsche 911 Cup entered by Lan GP Racing. Jemma Moore, with 57 points, and Alba Vázquez, with 53, also remain firmly in contention, in a classification featuring several drivers with a realistic chance of fighting for important positions.
António Almeida, with 50 points, Ángel Lanchares, with 45, and Artur Ferreira, with 42, complete the top ten in GTC. The gaps between the leading contenders point towards races in which consistency will be just as important as knowing when to attack. With two races still to come, managing risks and securing every available point could prove decisive, particularly as the Cup, GTX and GTX Am divisions are also yet to be settled.

Turismos – level pegging at the top
Among the Turismo cars, the standings could hardly be closer at the top. Daniel Teixeira and Francisco Roby Queiroz arrive in Jerez tied on 89 points, setting up a direct battle for the lead that is certain to attract attention. The leading FPAK Junior Team driver is Bernardo Passanha, who lies third with 76 points, just two ahead of Gonçalo Moura on 74. The other drivers involved in the federation's initiative, who will be sharing their cars with these two drivers in Jerez, are not in a position to fight for the title. With such small margins and 25 points available for a victory, significant changes could emerge throughout the weekend, particularly with the arrival of Paulo and Guilherme Silva's Audi RS3 LMS TCR potentially reshaping the competitive picture.
The sporting intensity will be accompanied by the characteristic atmosphere of Supercars Endurance, with teams, drivers and fans coming together in a paddock that offers much more than the action on track. Nevertheless, the spotlight will be firmly on the wheel-to-wheel battles, late braking manoeuvres and crucial decisions made throughout each race, as the Campeonato de España de Supercars titles move ever closer to finding their 2026 winners.
The Jerez Iberian Racing Festival takes place on 7 and 8 November at the Circuito de Jerez-Ángel Nieto and counts towards all three championships contested within Supercars Endurance: the Iberian Supercars, the Portuguese Speed Championship and the Campeonato de España de Supercars. Fans can enjoy the action at the circuit or follow the races through the championship's broadcast platforms, including its social media channels, DAZN Portugal and DAZN España
