Manuel Moura Teixeira and Samuel Moura Teixeira will team up behind the wheel of a Ginetta G40, making their debut in the Iberian Supercars Endurance sister series Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade on the streets of Vila Real.
Their surname leaves no doubt about the relationship between the two drivers, as father and son come together to face the challenge of the country's main track competition on the streets of the capital of Trás-os-Montes.
Manuel Moura Teixeira began his career in motorsport in 2000, starting in the Off-Road and later moving on to the Datsun 1200 one-make cup and the KIA GT Cup.
Samuel Moura Teixeira had a stint in karting, following his father in the KIA Picanto Cup until his academic life forced him to take a break. He returned to the same competition this year. This father and son duo also teamed up in the Group 1 Portugal driving a Datsun 1200.
The opportunity to compete in Vila Real, driving an exciting Ginetta G40 in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade, proved too appealing to refuse, allowing father and son to make their debut on our country's most important speed platform.
"I was very excited about this invitation and couldn't refuse! The atmosphere in Vila Real is fantastic, and competing in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade is a great experience. I think the most important thing will be to take advantage of all the experience and have fun on the track", said Manuel Moura Teixeira.
Monteiros Competição will provide technical support to the Moura Teixeira family-driven Ginetta G40.
"We're going to Vila Real without ever having driven the Ginetta, which requires us to adapt and try to understand its operation as soon as we get on the track. We'll try to do our best, but we want to take advantage of the fact that we're competing in the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade in Vila Real", concluded Samuel Moura Teixeira.
The 52nd edition of the Vila Real Street Circuit event is the third round of the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and will take place this weekend.
