João Silva and Quique Bordas will team up to drive No. 981 Garagem João Gomes Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 MR entry in the Iberian Supercars Endurance at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on July 30/31.

The 34 year-old Portuguese driver João Silva, who reconciles his professional activity with sports, completed six seasons in Formula Ford and will drive a Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 MR from Garagem João Gomes in the Algarve track. This will be his second competitive experience behind the wheel of a GT car.

"I always thought of changing category, to see what I am capable of and now the opportunity arose, which will allow me to see, after this experience, if in 2023 I will drive all the races of the championship,” explained the former Formula Ford (FF) driver that already had a first contact with the Porsche at Estoril track.

"I liked it, it was funny and different, but it is not so radical as a Formula Ford, in which the driver rides with his head outside the car. It will be an evolution, but in Portimão everything will be new for me, because in that circuit I only drove in FF. I haven't raced for six months, but I hope I can do well," he added.

João Silva will share the driving of the Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 MR, entered in the GT4 Pro category, with the Spanish youngster Quique Bordas. The 19-year-old driver cemented his career in the Spanish Formula 4 Championship, and now, in Portimão, he is doing his first appearance in GT cars.

The Catalan driver finished fourth in last year’s Spanish Formula 4 Championship, and now makes plans to turn the page to continue his career in GT racing. His first contact with the Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 MR from Garagem João Gomes took place at Autódromo do Estoril.

"I am super happy to announce that I will compete in the Endurance Supercars with Garagem João Gomes. I am ready to give the maximum and achieve good results for the team. I hope to be competitive from the start and to be able to fight for podiums and victories in both races in Portimão,” said the driver from Granollers.

The two 45-minute races, part of the Algarve Summer Party programme, will both have live streaming on the YouTube and Facebook channels of Race Ready.
