Lan GP Racing will return to the Supercars Endurance series in 2026 with an expanded effort, fielding two Porsche 911 Cup cars in the GTC Cup class, marking a clear step up in the Spanish outfit’s commitment to the Iberian Peninsula’s leading circuit racing championship.

Following their debut last season, where they secured three podium finishes in the Cup class and showed promising pace in a learning year, Ángel Lanchares and Ramiro García-Pumarino’s squad is raising the bar by running a two-car line-up, with one entry for the each one of them.

The programme expansion comes off the back of a solid first campaign. Lanchares reflects on 2025 as a foundational year for the team and explains that the move to two Porsches is a natural progression. “Last year was our debut in the championship and in GT racing, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, so much so that we’ve added a second Porsche to the team, allowing each driver to have their own car. It’s a clear step forward for the project,” he said.

The relationship with the championship and the paddock environment also played a key role in the decision. For the Spaniard, the organisation and competitive context were decisive in cementing their commitment, while one of the main changes for 2026 addresses a key issue from their debut season.

“We really like the atmosphere, the organisation and the circuits on the calendar. The only limitation we felt last year was the number of Safety Car periods due to the size of the grid and the mix of categories. So splitting the grids looks like a great call and a strong incentive for the GTC and Cup classes, which should now get more and better track time,” he noted.

That view extends to other regulatory updates, particularly the introduction of the datalogger system, which Lanchares sees as an interesting tool to help balance performance across different car concepts. The Spanish driver believes it could lead to a more refined approach to performance balancing, while also acknowledging the organisers’ efforts to keep evolving the championship. “You can see there’s a real will to do things properly, and that’s appreciated,” he added.

On track, the approach for 2026 remains ambitious but grounded in steady development. Lanchares says the target is to complete the full season, keep learning and improve competitiveness, while keeping an eye on strong results. “We’re aiming to finish every race, enjoy ourselves and keep growing in this fantastic world of racing. If we do things properly, we’re confident we can become more competitive and deliver solid results,” he explained.

The Spaniard also highlighted the importance of those supporting the project behind the scenes, stressing that the team’s growth wouldn’t be possible without its human backbone. In that regard, he gave special thanks to the technical support from EB Racing, through Emilio and Javier Benit, as well as mentor Antonio Castro, and the wider network of family and friends, calling them “the real force of Lan GP Racing”.

The 2026 Supercars Endurance season gets underway from 15 to 17 May at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, as part of the Algarve Iberian Racing Festival, which hosts the opening round of the Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de España de Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade.
