VELOSO SIGNS LOBO AND MORA FOR NEW GT4 EFFORT WITH PORSCHE

The recently announced Veloso Motorsport Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport will be driven in the 2024 Iberian Supercars series by Portuguese duo Miguel Lobo and Francisco Mora.

Together, Miguel Lobo and Francisco Mora will vie for the GT4 Pro honours. Should they achieve this, it would mark the seventh championship title for Francisco Mora and the first for Miguel Lobo.

Miguel Lobo has a background in karting, rallying, and competing in the Super Seven by Toyo Tires series, and has now ascended to the pinnacle of circuit racing in the Iberian Peninsula. He will be partnered with Francisco Mora, an experienced driver in Touring Cars, GT, and classic cars. Francisco's impressive resume includes winning 10 titles while driving for Veloso Motorsport.

Francisco Mora said: “the competition is strong and I believe we'll always have to be at our best to achieve the goal we've set ourselves. We want to fight for the title, knowing that it will be a very difficult task. Even more so in a competition where the Balance of Performance carries a lot of weight. But I'm confident that Miguel, an excellent driver who I know very well, and I have what it takes to be in the fight with the best. The first race will be important for us to understand our level and the level of the competition. Only then can we get an idea of what the season has in store for us. I have little experience in GT4, but I think I'll be able to adapt well”.

Miguel Lobo hasn't raced full-time for a while, but he already has experience in GT4 and believes he'll be able to reach the best level quickly: “I know I have a lot of work ahead of me and I haven't raced full-time for a while. But I'm in the right team, with the right team-mate, so I'll soon reach the best level. I've driven GT4 machines before and I'm fully aware of what will be required of me throughout the year. We want to be one of the best duos in the championship and we're going to work hard to make that happen”.

Luis Veloso, Veloso Motorsport CEO, added: “we are very proud to welcome Miguel Lobo and to retain our home driver, Francisco Mora, who has won 10 titles with our team. These two drivers could be a huge surprise in 2024 and will certainly be contenders for the title. For Veloso Motorsport, this emphasizes a strong presence with two top-quality drivers. We will announce the Mercedes AMG GT4 drivers later, but as always, our team will compete with professionalism and a drive for victory, while also respecting our opponents”.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport effort will run alongside Veloso Motorsport's Audi R8 LMS GT4 program, featuring an unchanged driver lineup of Patrick Cunha and Jorge Rodrigues, as well as the new Mercedes-AMG GT4, which drivers’ line up will be announced soon.
