Zome Racing will make its debut in the Supercars Endurance this year, fielding two McLaren 570S GT4 cars in the GTX division, a move that reinforces the vitality of a championship that continues to grow and attract new teams.

The arrival of this new Portuguese outfit is yet another sign of the Supercars Endurance’s ability to attract new drivers and structures, further consolidating the championship as a competitive benchmark on the Iberian Peninsula.

Founded in 2022 and having competed in other series, Zome Racing’s natural progression now leads to the Supercars Endurance, with this project being launched with a dual mission.

“We have been successful in other categories, and moving up to the Supercars Endurance was the natural step for a team like ours. We want to be a solution both for young drivers coming out of karting who are looking to progress in their careers, and for gentleman drivers taking their first steps in motorsport and aiming to evolve. We will have two coaches whom we consider to be an excellent support, Armando Parente and Francisco Villar, and I believe we have a solid structure that will allow our drivers to grow,” said Team Principal Ricardo Rajani.

The team’s two McLaren 570S GT4 cars will be entrusted to a pairing of young drivers with karting backgrounds and a pairing of gentleman drivers, whose names will be announced at a later date. This approach fits perfectly with the philosophy of the GTX division, promoting a diversity of driver profiles and contributing to competitive and well-balanced grids throughout the season.

Despite its ambition, the team enters the championship with a realistic and progressive approach. Ricardo Rajani stresses that the first year will be, above all, one of consolidation, without abandoning ambition. “It is always very difficult to set objectives in a first year, especially as we know the competition will be extremely strong and the overall level very high. However, we have already proven in other highly competitive categories that we can win and fight on equal terms with well-established teams. We are entering with humility and a willingness to learn, but we want to work towards fighting for podium positions,” he added.

The Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España seasons will begin at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve between 15 and 17 May, preceded by the official pre-season test at the Autódromo do Estoril on 21 March. These dates will mark the start of a new chapter for Zome Racing and for a championship that continues to assert itself through its competitiveness and ability to attract new participants.
